It's going to be a fabulously gross summer

Put on my flowered scrubs again today to go volunteer at the animal hospital. I was nervous to go back because, let's face it, my memory sucks and I figured they would expect me to remember how to do stuff. Which they did, and I totally didn't remember. Plus, they expected me to so stuff that they didn't realize I hadn't even learned last year. Guess they didn't realize they had me mainly doing cleaning and office work last summer.

But of the few things I learned over the course the whole summer last year I think I did them all today and then some. I was all like cleaning exam rooms, doing laundry, restocking, preparing vaccines, restraining dogs and doing cytology stains.

Though, the restraining didn't go very well. I was holding the dogs how the vet tech told me but I think all the scratches on my arms and chest are good indicators that it was insufficient. The embarrassing part is that they were small dogs.

I also got to see the grossest thing I've ever seen: an abscessed tumor on a cat's mammary glands. The skin around it was all black, it was big and puffy and pink, and it had a hole in the middle that bled continuously.

Although I haven't the slightest idea how their new computer system works, despite being taught, I'd have to say today was a good day for me at the vet clinic. And back there on Wednesday!

Summer for a day

It was so nice out today-80 degrees! Funny to remember that it is still technically winter. But the weather was awesome for spring break. My sister and I were outside tanning today and my aunt walked by and was like, "What are you guys pretending it's Florida or something?" Lol. I do have a slight tan, which is good. No more of that pasty, sickly winter look. I'm ready for summer weather, though not ready for summer. I got to get my grades up for this second half of the semester and I intend to try really hard to do that. Also, even though I only made a couple friends at school, I'm going to miss them this summer. Plus this summer I'm going to have to spend more time preparing fecal floats and less time swimming in the lake. #PreVetProblems #HashtagsonBlogger

Hot diagrams

I hope you all enjoyed no-post June, it was something new I was trying. Mainly because I was being lazy. But I think lazy a good way to spend my summer, which is why my sister and I spent hours at a lake yesterday. And you know how you learn something new everyday? I learned exactly what shade of bright red the sun can make my skin turn.

That's my back by the way. It's slightly painful. My sister also got sunburn on her back but it was more like this:

Oops. Oh well, it was a fun day at least.

Seasons change; men don't

Why, hello there, Mr. Fall! What are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you for another 20 days! Please, come have a seat. What is that you brought for me, 60 degree weather? I haven't had that in ages! Thank you so very much! Though, I have to be honest with you, Mr. Fall, I am not prepared for your arrival. You'll have to sleep on the couch, I'm afraid. Ms. Summer is still in the guest room. That doesn't trouble you? What was that you said about Ms. Summer? Oh, you fancy her? She has such a warm personality. Yes, she has that too, hee hee. Mr. Fall! Please, watch your manners! I cannot have you talking about using your wind to lift up Ms. Summer's skirts! What would Mr. Winter and Mrs. Spring say! Mr. Fall! Mr. Winter would never use his cold for Ms. Summer's nipples! How dare you accuse him of such an ungentlemanly thing! Mr. Fall, I think I'm going to have to ask you to leave. I can not tolerate that vulgarity, especially while Ms. Summer is upstairs. Speaking of Ms. Summer she should have been down here for supper by now. Well, she probably heard you talking and didn't wish to come down with you insulting her innocence. And no, Mr. Fall, you cannot throw Ms. Summer down into a pile of leaves and have your way with her! I don't care how large her bosom is! Good day, Mr. Fall! *Slam!* Humph!

The loss of our dear friend, The Summer

Stage 1- Denial: You keep on wearing those short-shorts despite the science building being as cold as Antarctica. Freezing yourself just to show off those legs that seemed so sexy and tan yesterday in your bathing suit that are now just wasting your time as you struggle to unstick yourself from the chair at the end of each class.

Stage 2- Anger: I am not going to school. It is a sucky, useless place that just takes all my money. I hate you, school! It's all your fault Summer isn't with us anymore! You did this to her! To us!

Stage 3-Bargaining: Please just one more week while the weather is still nice! You can have a week of my winter break, if you just let me go swimming just one more time.

Stage 4- Depression: You fill your backpack with pencils and your calculator then slump it over your shoulder. As you walk out to your car you note the sunshine, but don't care as you will be stuck in buildings all day. All the things that used to bring you joy: ice cream, tanning, sleeping in until noon, seem to have gone with the departed and you are left with nothing.

Stage 5- Acceptance: Let's face it, you're just waiting it out until next summer. Screw acceptance.

Aye, lass: A book review

When I woke up last Monday, it felt like summer. Last year between ear surgery, everyone leaving for college, and me not finishing a single novel; it didn't feel like summer; it just felt like "eh." This year though, the sun has been shining, I got to so swimming once, and I am reading a great book.

It is the perfect summer read. Genre-wise it is a cross of romance, historical fiction, and fantasy. It has everything a woman wants for her summer reads with both edge-of-your-seat action and suspense and love between the characters that is so powerful that, let's face it, there's nothing between the characters- if you catch my drift. Also, it takes place in historical Scotland with a modern English woman as the main character: hence my new vocabulary.

I'll lend this book to ye if you want. I found it is good to keep the mind off things like family parties and root canals.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt

This summer has been a roller coaster. A mostly downhill one. There was the ear surgery, and not being able to do stuff like swimming, playing in community marching band, and going on carnival rides. I didn't even think it was possible to have a summer without swimming. There was also that whole dream-crushing thing- you know where I was supposed to go away to college then reality slapped me in the face. Most recently, is the not-getting-that-job-I-really-wanted thing (ok, I don't know for sure, but it's not looking good).

Though the summer was not completely sucky. My favorite day was probably my birthday. I figured that's the only day I could force my friends to come shopping at the mall with me all day. It was the best b-day/ shopping spree ever. I also thoroughly enjoyed going to the zoo with my friends and multiple sleepovers.

Those who know me, know that I hate endings. I cry every December 26th. But I don't feel emotionally attached to this summer. I feel numb. School's tomorrow and I don't want to go. But I will and you have to just keep on moving. And my friends are leaving this week. But, that's life and they got to go. I guess being in denial and being emotionally detached is my way to save myself the tears. This summer has been hard enough. And I can only take so much. With my friends leaving and me going to a school I hate, I have nothing to look forward to. It's the only way I can save myself from myself.

I can't think of a stupid title. Get over it.

I have just read the first chapter to one of three books I have to read for school, and with only one real week of summer left, I'd say I'm doing pretty good. Nah, that's a bunch of crap. How am I supposed to read these books when all I want to do is play stupid games on the Internet? I have a problem. I really do. I want someone to take this computer away from me, but I think if they did I would die(or go crazy). Or I might just be able to get my life back just in time for school. Nah. I'd die.

It's pretty messed up how my summer has been. I've done absolutely nothing except complain about how boring it is, but now I don't want it to end. I may not have a life, but staying up til 3 am watching dumb TV shows, sleeping in til 1, then going on the computer for the rest of the day- is boring. But it's a hell of a lot more fun than school.

I'm just going to try to enjoy my last week while practicing my flute and reading two (long) books. And between the Internet and the TV I just don't think I can handle it all! See? I need help. Ugh.

UGH

What's the point of summer anyway? Almost three months where I don't use my brain isn't exactly a good idea. Oh sure, you can get a job or take summer school, but, nah, that's not for me. Why would I want to learn something new or make money? Actually the problem is no place wants to hire me. Those butthead employers. Don't they know I'm a responsible, honor roll student? Obviously they only want the "D" students. No offense. Why would I need a job anyway when I can just sit here and watch TV all day? I can almost feel my brain turning to mush. I'm gonna fail all of my AP classes next year and it's going to be all the fault of this summer.

Today I couldn't sleep so I woke up around 5:30 leaving me with about four hours of sleep. So I go watch TV and I fall asleep on the couch around 9-ish and wake up about an hour later. About a hour after that I go to bed and sleep until 4. Not only was that a complete waste of my time, but now I have a horrible headache.

Please people, I need something to do! All of my friends have jobs and stuff to do and I'm stuck here. Furthermore, I am terrified to take my piggies outside. I had another hawk nightmare last night (or this afternoon-I don't remember). This along with the so-itchy-they're-painful mosquito bites is keeping me inside. I can't stay in this place! Help me before I go crazy. I've already wasted a third of the summer.

What was my original point? I've strayed a bit . Oh yeah. This sucks.

PS- sorry about the annoying teenage rant
