My big boy!

I knew leaving my baby home with my parents would mean they would fatten him up just like they did to my babies, Bruno and Jefe, last year. I guess that's what happens, though, when your daughters go away to college and there's no one left to spoil but the guinea pigs!

Three guinea pigs and a hamster

I love this pic because it is of all my babies! My sister and I like to put Quasar and Mr. Party Nugget (the hamster) together because Quasar is curious of Mr. P and follows him around. Which is uncharacteristic for the scaredy-cat Quasar.

However, Mr. P and Bruno don't get along. When we held them up to each other Mr. P took his little paw and pushed Bruno away. It was so cute that we tried to reproduce that for video, but then Bruno bit Mr. P before we could pull them apart (they were in our hands). But no worries, Hammy was fine. And those two don't visit each other anymore.

No more baby GP withdrawl

Well after my last post about baby guineas, I couldn't resist going to the pet store to look at some more babies!

This little guy was hogging the food bowl.

Don't worry though, his friend pushed him out for his turn to sit in it.

Also, I think that black fella in the front there is the same guy from the pic in my title- that pic was taken in May. I hope someone adopts him soon; he seems really fun and friendly! There was a *wittle* baby in there too but he ran into the igloo shortly after I walked up.

I told my boyfriend I should get a baby pig for my apartment at school since my Quasar is too big now and will be staying at home with my parents for my last semester at school. He didn't think my parents would go for it. He was right. Oh well, I will have three loving guinea pigs waiting for me to graduate in December!

Baby pigs

Someone I used to be friends with sent me this pic of the guinea pigs at the pet store in my college's town last fall. I love this pic because they are cute babies. Though they are probably big now just like my boys!

Quasar's audition tape for the track team

My littlest guinea pig, Quasar, lived with me in my tiny apartment last year. I used to notice that he liked to run around his cage which was very small. So I took on the challenge of getting him comfortable to run around my room which wasn't easy because Quasar is afraid of literally everything! But he discovered he loves running around! And it looks like he is quite the little athlete. I mean, look at the way he handles those hurdles, I mean, ahem, desk chair.

Don't say awww

I got new guinea pigs and they are the cutest things ever! They are little babies (3-4 weeks old). They are very talkative, especially when apart. They are brothers/litter mates. They are always pushing each other around, going under each other, taking the other's spot, and trying to flip the other one over- what little stinkers! Them seem to have a "can't with with him, can't live without him" attitude about each other.   But they are soooo small and soooo cute. Jefe ("boss" in Spanish) is the brown one and Bruno is the white one.

All gone

RIP Ozzie

Ozzie you were such a lovable pig, even though you were smelly. I'm going to miss you a lot. I was looking forward to spending spring break with you, but hopefully now you are with Elmer and Wilbur in guinea pig heaven. I love you.

Guinea pigs are the reason for my existence

In my companion animal class today, we spent about three minutes talking about guinea pigs. It was the best three minutes of my life. Except when my professor said that guinea pigs weren't cuddly. He even had this on his power point. When he said this, I spent about two milliseconds trying to keep my face under control, but I couldn't do it and I just let my face go into probably the best "What the fuck??" face I've ever made. Now- my professor saw my facial expression, pointed to me, and announced to the whole class that I had made a face. Which was kind of embarrassing, I'm not gonna lie. But how dare he say guinea pigs are not cuddly! Screw his DVM PhD! If there's one thing I know about it's guinea pigs and I know they are very cuddly! That's a big reason of why I love them so much. There's nothing better than than that plump rodent resting his head on your shoulder. Guinea pigs rock. A friend of mine was pulling up YouTube videos of guinea pigs yesterday. They were so cute; I wanted to cry. I miss my guinea pigs so much. I am seriously going through guinea pig withdrawal. I need some guinea pigs, stat.

Losing a friend

My guinea pig, Wilbur, died last night. He was the best. I don't even know what else to say. I can't really say more without crying, so here are some pictures of my cavy best friend.

I love you so much, Wilbs. Miss you.

Secret agent piggy

When my first guinea pig, Leroy, was young we had ugly carpet in the living and dinning rooms of my house and he was allowed to run around because my mom didn't care if something happened to that carpet. So, Leroy would run around the dinning room. He would start at the end the the table and zig-zag his way through the legs of the chairs as fast as he could, going in a circle and when he reached the end he would stop, and jump up and turn around at the same time, and go back the way he came. I was impressed by this. He never once ran into a leg.

Eventually, he needed more of a challenge. He had a mission. Get from the dinning room to under the couch without getting caught. He would run around the dinning room for a little while, then at some point run to behind a nearby armchair. The chair that was in that location at the time had a flaps on the bottom. Leroy used this as a cover. He didn't know we could see his feet. Then, when he thought the coast was clear, he would make a mad dash across the empty space of the living room and go under the couch. We hated when he went under the couch because it was hard to get him out. I think he knew that.

One day, when I thought a little change would be good, I took him to the downstairs region of my house for him to run around. I thought it was a nice little arrangement because whenever I hadn't seen him for a while I would call, "Leroy! Where are you?" and he would either run over, or squeal so I knew he was ok. At one point though, I was calling his name and was getting no response. I starting looking for him, but didn't see him anywhere. I went upstairs, I'm not sure why. Perhaps it was to ask my siblings if they had seen him or if it was my gut feeling coupled with the fact that I had seen Leroy eyeing the stairs earlier. Sure enough, there he was upstairs, under the couch. Leroy had taught himself how to go up stairs- no easy task for someone of his size.

When we were at the pet store one day, we had had Leroy for about 8 months, my mom and my sister saw a cute little guinea pig and persuaded my dad to let us get him. He became my sister's guinea pig and we named him Harry. We put him in a separate cage from Leroy because of the age difference and the fact that they were males (males fight). From this point on, Leroy's mission changed. His new goal- get into my sister's room to see Harry.

This became particularly amusing when the ugly carpet finally was removed and replaced by rugs. Now when Leroy was running around my room he would get to the door, then pace. He didn't like the wood. He had to build up his courage every time he faced the wood floor. He would pace around then eventually dash across it as fast as he could, as if it were a pool of piranhas he had to leap across.

Snippets from my head

It's funny that it was pouring rain on the unofficial but highly participated in white-shirt day of band camp. The humor mainly stems from the fact that I'm not in band camp this year, but my two annoying younger siblings are.

G-force is a good movie, but it was hard to watch. If it wasn't fictional I would cry out animal cruelty. I wanted to pick up those pigs up and cuddle them.

I had decided to be sad tomorrow because it was my almost move-in day. I could have had my freedom. But I thought I'll be happy for my friends if I hang out with them.

Eye throbbing feels weird. Make it stop. Though not as bad as a couple of days ago when my right hand was shaking and I couldn't drink a glass of water or use it on the computer. I'm glad that stopped.

Walking around community college to find my classes yesterday was weird. My English class is in a biology classroom and some buildings smell like a hospital.

Taylor Swift has many songs that I like. But wanna know what's a great song? Glitter in the Air by Pink. Love that song.

I am way too tired for 11:52 pm. Wake up!

I owe one injured duck a huge favor

I was in kind of a bad mood today because it's spring break and I had absolutely nothing to do, so I thought to cheer myself up a bit I would take my guinea pigs outside- the weather was a little nicer today and they like being outside. They were in their little plastic igloos and I also put a little fence-thing around them, which I usually don't do, but since I didn't want to bother with them running away or anything, I did. My sister, who was about to leave for a chiropractor's appointment, came outside and we started to play whiffle ball. All was going well, and I was up to bat. I noticed a man who started walking down our street and I was kind of watching him because I'm a suspicious person like that. Well, apparently, while I was watching the man, my sister was watching what she thought was a duck fight, until she realized it wasn't a two ducks- it was a duck and a hawk. I don't know if you understand the significance of this but hawk+ guinea pigs = dinner. And there it was- across the street and two houses down. It was so close I couldn't believe it. I knew there was a hawk around here, but I had never seen it so close before. So, my sister screamed and I looked and yup, that hawk was giving one heck of a beat down to that duck. I looked away quickly because I had to go save my pigs and frankly I did not want to watch that. As we were picking up our pigs, my sister froze. "Forget the igloos! We have to get the pigs inside!" I said to her. She informed me later that the reason she hesitated was because she thought she saw the hawk flying at us. When we came back outside to get our stuff, the hawk was sitting in the tree right outside our house. Holy Shit.

My sister says she saw the duck fly away. That was probably the moment when the hawk came after us. But think, if that duck hadn't been there, it could have been my guinea pigs- and they wouldn't have been able to fly away.

As much as I love all animals, I'll admit that I want that hawk dead. My guinea pigs get so few pleasures in their life and eating the grass and playing outside is one of them. Now that is taken away from them. I am, however, extremly grateful that my guinea pigs were not a victim of the hawk's hunger. So thank you God, and thank you duck.

Animal torture

I was just at one of my favorite websites- bored.com- because I was extremely bored, but since I spent my whole summer on the computer, I've pretty much done everything on that website. So I starting looking around for something different and I discovered they had a theme song. I've never heard of a website that has a theme song before so I just had to listen. So it started playing a bad rap song, and my guinea pig-who was sleeping- starts freaking out. He jumps up, then freezes then starts moving his head side to side like, "what's that?" He looked scared like that song meant he was gonna be tortured or something. I know this is gonna sound mean, but it made me laugh. My guinea pig is scared of bored.com's theme song! So hey, bored.com- stop scaring small animals! Not the weirdest thing I've heard gp's being afraid of though. My first guinea pig was afraid of wood floors.

I think it took me longer to type than the time it happened in. Too many words.
